The Best Snooker Club in Manchester?
For the past 40 years here in South Manchester, we've seen snooker clubs come and go. Many have boldly claimed the title of "the best snooker club in Manchester." It’s a big statement, one that we’d never be arrogant enough to make about ourselves. Frankly, nobody should be calling themselves “the best”. All the snooker club operators in and around Manchester work hard in a tough industry, and do the best they can with that they have got so we have to respect that.
Sure, we’re proud to be an excellent club, with hundreds of five-star Google reviews and thousands of happy members. But claiming to be the best is not what we’re about. We believe that a club’s greatness is defined by personal experience, and what’s “best” varies from person to person. Each member has their own unique preferences, needs, and priorities—what one person sees as ideal, another might find lacking.
So, rather than aim for “the best,” we focus on being outstanding by meeting what matters most to our members. With that in mind, here are some key qualities to consider in a snooker club:
- Table Quality: Are tables well-maintained, level, and do they match your preference for new or antique?
- Maintenance: How regularly are table cloths, pockets, and nets cared for?
- Facilities: Is the club clean, bright, and well-kept?
- Accessibility: Is it easy for everyone to enter, with accommodations for disabled access?
- Booking System: Does the club offer a convenient online booking system for tables and times?
- Safety: Do you feel secure at the club? Is there security?
- Management: Is the club well-run, and can you speak to management if needed?
- Staff: Are they friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable?
- Price: Do you feel you’re getting value for what you pay?
- Location: Is it easy to reach, with good public transportation or parking?
- Food & Drink: Are refreshments reasonably priced and hygienic?
- Cue Shop: Does the club sell cues and accessories at fair prices?
- Scoreboards: Are they digital or traditional, and does the style suit you?
- Live Sports: Are events like football, boxing, or other sports shown?
- Atmosphere: Do you prefer a quiet vibe or a more lively setting with music and socializing?
- Consistency: Are your visits consistently enjoyable?
- Coaching & Leagues: Is there coaching, and does the club offer pool or snooker leagues?
- Website & Social Media: Is there an up-to-date website with clear prices and photos? Are they active on social media?
- Memberships: Are they affordable and easy to access online?
- Table Service: Can you order food and drinks directly to your table?
Ultimately, there isn’t a “best” snooker club in Manchester, but there is one that’s best for you based on what you value.

A little bit about Hazel Grove Snooker Club, our history and where we see ourselves going in the future.
Established in 1985
Hazel Grove Snooker Club was set in 1985 and has been owned by the same family ever since. The snooker club has been visited by various professional snooker players over the years such as Alex Higgins, Steven Hendry, Judd Trump, Jimmy White, Dennis Taylor, Ken Doherty and more. We have had a few famous members too from both Manchester United and Manchester City, and have had a few surprise guests like soap stars, boxers, cricket stars and other sporting champs! That being said, every single guest famous or not, is really special to us.
Over 14,000 Square Feet
The building was once a factory and was acquired by the snooker club owners in the 1980's. The building is huge and is over 14,000 square feet. While there are other snooker halls in the UK that have integrated bowling alleys, we don't know many clubs this size that are dedicated to just snooker and pool. It is one of the biggest clubs in the UK, certainly the biggest in Stockport and Manchester.
37 tables/oches of Snooker, pool and darts
The club has a whopping 15 full size snooker tables, 5 full size American pool tables, 14 English pool tables, 2 darts oches and a table tennis arena, bar, kitchen and lounge area as well as a large free car park. We can only think of a couple of other snooker clubs in the UK that big.
Thousands of Active Members and Guests
The snooker club entertains thousands of guests and members across Greater Manchester. We promote a safe, friendly and fun environment for our customers to enjoy.
